How much does it all cost? How does it work? Why are you not a business?
DA20 (1 person): 174€/hr
DA40 (3 people): 280€/hr total (94€/hr/person)
landing in Štefánik/Poprad: ~30€
landing anywhere else: ~3€
All prices you find on the website are non-binding estimates, and we can adjust the flight plan accordingly.
If you tell me you have budget for X€, we can skip or add some locations, and during flight I will be monitoring the time and advising whether we should go back to keep within budget. If we go over budget and it's because I misjudged the time or the weather conditions changed, I cover that cost. But if you were aware we would be over budget and insisted on spending more time in the air, you will of course cover that.
You cover the costs only after the flight has ended, once we know the full flight time. Cash is preferred, but bank transfers are acceptable within 24hrs of landing.
Time:
starts once the aircraft is no longer in contact with the ground,
ends when it touches the ground again (for the final time), and
is always rounded down to the nearest minute
The only factors affecting the price, regardless of whether it's a tour or other kind of flight, are:
time spent in the air, depending on aircraft:
airports used for landing
So if you were to book a flight:
for 1 person (DA20)
for 1 hour
only landing 1 time in Štefánik airport
the cost would be: 174€/hr * 1hr + 1ldg * 30€/ldg = 204€
in general: <aircraft price>€/hr * <duration>hr + <landings>ldg * <airport price>€/ldg = <total price>€
For custom flight paths, a simplification you can make is that each aircraft tends to have a preferred cruise speed:
DA20: 85kts = ~160km/hr = ~0.90€/km
DA40: 110kts = ~203km/hr = ~1.37€/km (total, ~0.46€/km/prs)
This speed is an average due to winds, changes in atmospheric conditions and not accounting for certain maneuvers such as takeoff/landing/circling.
All flights will end at Štefánik Airport (or Trenčín, rarely), so you always need to consider 1 landing there. If you want to be left at another airfield, that's perfectly fine, but you will still need to cover the costs of the flight back to Štefánik (or Trenčín, rarely). The same if you want to be picked up at another airfield.
The captain does not hold a Commercial Pilot License, preventing him from making a profit from the flights, hence all costs for you are rounded down to ensure not a single cent ends up in the captain's pocket, instead the flight is always performed partially at his own expense.
These flights make it easier for the captain to obtain the commercial license, and combined with his love for people and flying, that's all he asks for. Any tips or additional payment will be refused.
